Two weeks ago I was still in California and still enjoying one of the best trips of my life. Let's see, about this time I believe we were pigging out on Nachos at Chilis. Even though I sort of mourned the end of such a great journey when life resumed the following week, I am thankful for the friendships that continue to grow. (Last Friday, my school had a pep rally. It was "pink out" day. The gym was decked out in pink banners and signs and much of the student body had on pink. Stephanie's brother, who is a coach at our school, spent a long time honoring all of us, as well as all of the women who have fought and overcome cancer. He said the sweetest words and gave Stephanie, Janet, and I pink roses, a book, and a certificate to a spa. It was quite a special honor.)
In the last 2 weeks, I have managed to squeeze in several road rides as well as a trail ride at Sansom with Alicia and Deanna. It was all I needed as my legs were recovering from the West Coast hills. I was most excited about riding because I got to wear my new favorite jersey: the pink one that I was given in Cali. Today I raced in Waco. Kind of a last hoorah before basketball season gets into full swing.
Last weekend, I got to go to the Tech vs. TCU game with Aaron and my parents. We had a blast and saw an incredible game as Tech (who we were rooting for since my dad is an alumnus) won in triple overtime. One of my favorite parts of the game was the halftime performance by Tech's talented band. I was mesmerized at how such a large, moving organism could move with such unity. And play an instrument at the same time!
Finally, I have no way to make this next picture fit with this blog post, other than the fact that I received it in a text sometime last week from my hilarious husband. Who happens to live and breath football this time of year by the way. It cracked me up. I'm so lucky to have such a strong man in my life.
