Ten Lessons from the Bike

Everything I need to know in life I learned on my way to kindergarten. Well, almost everything. In the days where kids could pedal the neighborhoods without a supervising peloton, I would mount my little steed and ride around the block, up and down curbs, and eventually to the elementary school. It never occurred to me until I was an adult how many life lessons I was learning by taking life on two wheels.  Here they are, in no particular order:
Lesson #1: It's all about balance.
Lesson #2: Don't be afraid to take a few risks.
Lesson #3: Be prepared for a few skinned knees.
Lesson #4: Traveling in a group is always more fun.
Lesson #5: Listen to your mother's advice.
Lesson #6: There is a time to pedal hard and a time to cruise easy.
Lesson #7: If you get tired, take a break.
Lesson #8: If you try to show off for your friends, you may end up on your butt.
Lesson #9: Know when to go home.
Lesson #10: Don't over plan, just get out and enjoy the ride!
