Day 1: Colorado Trail

After Aaron got his bike and shoes set up, we headed a couple miles out of town to the Colorado Trail.  It was beautiful!  The trail ran by a river for part of the way, then climbed up.  We ended up going 3 miles up, then 3 miles back down.  The trail was in great shape.
The trail had a few places (not so much in this picture) that had a steep drop off to the river valley below.

My new favorite socks.  Aaron surprised me with these when he got his bike.  I had been wanting to get some
Colorado socks but hadn't even said anything yet!  What a sweetie.

Aaron on his Cannondale 29er hardtail.
A man who was cruising with his wife and teenage son took this.
I had run into the couple yesterday in town, and we ran into them again on the trail.

The guy who took this picture was a hiker who had been on the trail for 28 days straight.  He had hiked from Denver to Durango, meeting up with two buddies from Steamboat along the way.  The trio was on their last day, only several miles from their final destination in town.

Tomorrow we are planning on going about 40 miles down the road to Cortez (by car that is). There is a trail there called Phil's World that sounds like a lot of fun.  The Roberson family (fellow Bikes Inc. friends) were in Durango last year and said the trail was one of their favorites, and there is a disc golf course as well.  In the afternoon, we are hoping to meet up with Mitch Moreland, a relative of some other Bikes Inc. friends, Bill and Janis Moreman.  It's great to have friends who love to ride!

We're enjoying the mountains and great weather for sure. Now if we could just move all our family and friends up here, it'd be perfect!

Just getting caught up on your blog. Looks like you're having lots of fun! I love that Aaron is riding with you :) We have some pics from Gudy's Rest too. That's about as far as Nick and I went before we turned around. Glad you like Phil's World!
