Several rides are on the horizon, namely the Tour de Pink in October. The training agenda for the 200+ in three day event is fairly straight forward: get miles and saddle time in gradually until the big event, then taper off a couple of weeks before. I believe this weekend Stephanie and Shawna are participating in the Fire Cracker tour in Stephenville. They are doing the 40 miler! Go girls!
Janet got her bike tuned up and has been riding it as well. I've been out of town, but hopefully we will all get together and ride soon.
I toyed with the idea of signing up for the Hotter N Hell in August (Wichita Falls). If I'm gonna do it, I know hotel space is limited, maybe already full, so I need to decide. That would be a good incentive to get on the (road) bike, and probably a lot of fun. Bicycles Inc. are sponsors, so there would be support there if needed.

Solavaca Cat Claw Classic (Glen Rose, Tx) Thanks for the picture, Carolyn! |
TMBRA has a fall series with some sweet venues (Waco, Abilene). Last year I planned on competing in the races, but ended up only doing the Abilene event due to a minor knee injury. It was a blast, and the payout was pretty good! There are 5 or 6 races total, some at trails I've never ridden. The plan is always to go to as many as possible. Sometimes it happens, sometimes not, but thinking about it keeps me on the bike through the hot summer. The Tour de Pink is right in the middle of that series, so training will be a hybrid of road and mountain bike time. Keeps it fun!
