Ode to Mom

You wiped my nose with love and care

you helped me remember to brush my hair.

You bandaged all my battle wounds 

and sometimes made me eat gross prunes.

You listened to all my silly tales

and pretended like they were really swell.

You drove me to school and practice after

you heard my dumb jokes and offered laughter.

You remembered my birthday and baked a cake

you forgave all of my wrong mistakes.

You held me close when my heart was broken

you eased my pains with kind words spoken. 

You were still there for me as I grew older

You gave me wings to help me live bolder.

You offered love as often as needed

you went before our Father and pleaded.

You have always been available to listen

you are my friend and today I'm wishing

You know how much I really love you,

you are special to me, sweet and true.

 So today I wrote you an ode simply to say,

I love you mom!  Happy Mother's Day!
