Saturday Fun Ride

You don't always have to sign up for an organized Tour or event to have a great time with friends on the bike.  Today was a nice 50 mile cruise that included two metroplex trails and some cool urban back roads in between.

Leonard and Alicia...
Brett and Deanna...and I started at Gateway trail in Fort Worth and ended up at River Legacy trail in Arlington.
Leonard had done the route once before and led the way.  It was nice to tag along and not worry about taking a wrong turn or getting lost in the woods.

After leaving Fort Worth, we took a combination of sidewalks, paved bike trails, and city streets to get to Arlington.

On the road entering River Legacy, we almost crushed this little guy.  We got off our bikes to say hi.

At RL, we ran into another member of our team, Janis.  She was showing us her new bike.
Janis also rode the new section of RL with us and hung out until we were back to the city streets.
We stopped at a Shell station to pick up some water and Gatorade. I told Alicia there is something rewarding about being on the bike long enough you have to stop and refill everything.  Of course she and Leonard were smart and brought Camelbaks...
I never realized how many bike trails there are in the metroplex, many wind around parks and have beautiful wild flowers and birds.

After about 4 hours, we made it back!  What a fun day with friends.
