Hiking and Biking in Idyllwild

 This picture sums it up!
The town of Idyllwild is nestled up in the mountains of Southern California.  Here's the local bike shop, "The Hub."  Andrew recognized the owner's wife from a documentary "Ride the Divide."  At the time it was filmed several years ago, she was the only female to have completed the race that spans from Canada to New Mexico, over 2,700 miles in length.

The main trail we rode was Hurkey Creek.  It was a loop with several extras you could take.

After a couple of miles of steady ascent, this gorgeous meadow came into view.  When the rest of the family got to the trails, this is where we all hiked to.

This BePaw still knows how it's done!  After a dozen miles of single track, we met up with the family back at the trailhead.  Buzzy and Andrew rode, and the rest of us enjoyed a hike.

Carolyn grew up in California and loves the outdoors.  This MiMi still knows how it's done!

Urijah started the hike in the carrier, but spent a lot of the day exploring on his own two feet.  This boy has boundless energy!  He is one mighty warrior for sure.

We made it back to the meadow!

 Run Urijah, run!

 That Aaron is sneaky.

Laura, MiMi and I hiked across the fields to get some pictures on the big rock.  The "field" was really a purple ocean of Indian needles.  It took us a while to get them all out of our socks and shorts.

Aaron got a picture of this unique tree.  It had holes with acorns in it.

A little dust never hurt nobody.
Buzzy and Andrew rode their bikes back to the cars while the rest of us hiked a little ways back and then waited by the nearby road.  This is a place I think we will definitely visit again.
